SUMMER HARP CAMP

OUR TEACHERS

The high quality of instruction and personal approach of each one of our instructors is what makes a stay at CVHI such a special and inspirational learning experience.  Our instructors are not only seasoned professionals but passionate teachers with a vast knowledge of orchestral excerpts, ensemble skills, and solo repertoire. At CVHI we work as a team to help you achieve the goals you set out before you get to camp, whether you wish to improve your sight-reading, learn how to play ensemble, or master a challenging piece of music.

Welcome to Connecticut Valley

Harp Intensive Summer Camp

Connecticut Valley Harp Intensive offers a summer program unique to lever and pedal harpists between the ages of 12 and 20. The CVHI program requires them to select between a solo, ensemble-based or combined track to follow during their week on the scenic campus of the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Connecticut. While every participant takes the necessary courses in rhythm, sight-reading and technique, each harpist will have courses specific to his or her selected track which will allow deeper focus, more practice time, theme-based Master Classes and performances, and an intensive approach to either ensemble or solo playing.

Make your Intensive Extensive! Visit our "Program" page to learn about our new CVHI - XT option!

If you're more the traditional type who loves CVHI's original program, CVHI - ST is for you!

CVHI
accepts both pedal and lever harp students of all levels, and offers  its participants an opportunity for inspiration in an energetic environment. Days are spent rehearsing, practicing and learning in the spacious rooms of the newly renovated resource center, taking a private lesson, attending workshops and cultural events, and participating in various activities after class, while forming lifelong friendships with fellow harpists.

GUEST ARTISTS

2016 Guest Artist Mason Morton, Harpist

Member of "Sons of Serendip," Finalist on "America's Got Talent," Season 9 • Harp, piano, cello, and voice.

Mason's music was instilled early on, and quickly became a passion for him. Mason began to see his own potential with the help of his harp mentors: principal harpist of the Atlanta Ballet, Nella Rigell, and former principal harpist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Ann Hobson Pilot. It was their combined confidence in Mason that gave him the courage to believe in himself. After completing his graduate studies at Boston University, he is thrilled his musical journey has led him to Sons of Serendip.
